Michigan State University (MSU)
MSU Foundation Professor in the Departments of Chemistry and Biomedical Engineering at Michigan State University (MSU). His research integrates organic chemistry, glycoscience, and biomedical nanotechnology, with major contributions to carbohydrate‑based vaccines, diagnostic nanoplatforms, and drug‑delivery systems. He is known for advances in oligosaccharide synthesis, glycomimetic nanoparticles, and conjugate vaccines.
He earned his B.S. from USTC (1994) and his M.A., M.Phil., and Ph.D. from Columbia University (1996–1999), followed by postdoctoral work at Scripps and Columbia. He began his independent career at the University of Toledo before joining MSU in 2008, where he is also Chief of the Chemical Biology Division and founder of Iaso Therapeutics.
His honors include the NSF CAREER Award, ACS Melville L. Wolfrom Award, ACS Fellow, and AAAS Fellow.
