Ohyun Kwon

She is a Professor of Chemistry & Biochemistry at UCLA, specializing in phosphine catalysis, natural product synthesis, and new organic methodologies with medicinal applications.

After completing her Ph.D. at Columbia and an HHMI postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard, she joined UCLA in 2001 and became Full Professor in 2013. She is known for developing commercially available phosphine catalysts such as HypPhos and CarvoPhos.

Her work has earned major honors, including the Glenn T. Seaborg Award, the Boehringer Ingelheim Green Chemistry Award, the Herbert Newby McCoy Award, and the ACS Arthur C. Cope Scholar Award.
