Full Professor and Researcher at CiQUS (Center for Research in Sustainable Chemistry) at the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC), specializing in organometallic chemistry and sustainable synthetic methodologies.
He earned his Ph.D. from USC in 2001 under Profs. Enrique Guitián and Dolores Pérez, working on aryne cycloadditions catalyzed by transition‑metal complexes. After a Marie Curie postdoctoral stay with Nobel Laureate Ben L. Feringa at the University of Groningen, he returned to USC as a Ramón y Cajal Fellow (2004), becoming Associate Professor in 2008 and Full Professor in 2020.
His research includes new synthetic methods, polycyclic aromatic compounds, nanostructured graphene, and single‑molecule surface chemistry. His work has earned major awards, and he currently serves as Scientific Director of CiQUS.
