Colin Nuckolls

Sheldon & Dorothy Buckler Professor of Materials Science at Columbia University, renowned for pioneering research in molecular electronics, polyaromatic materials, and new carbon allotropes.

After earning his Ph.D. from Columbia in 1998 and completing an NIH‑funded postdoctoral fellowship at The Scripps Research Institute, he joined Columbia as an Assistant Professor in 2000, later becoming Department Chair and a founding member of the Columbia Nanoscience Center.

His work integrates synthetic chemistry with molecular‑scale electronic devices, and he has received major honors including the Sloan Research Fellowship, the Beckman Young Investigator Award, the ACS Arthur C. Cope Scholar Award, and the ACS Baekeland Award.
