Michigan State University
Professor of Chemistry at Michigan State University and an expert in bioorganic chemistry, molecular design, photochemistry, and molecular recognition. His research focuses on retinoids, protein–ligand interactions, and the development of photoactive derivatives.
He earned his Ph.D. from the University of California, Davis in 1995 under Profs. Mark Kurth and Bruce Hammock, followed by postdoctoral work with Prof. Koji Nakanishi at Columbia University (1998). Since then, he has built a strong independent career at Michigan State, contributing to retinol biochemistry, chromophore design, and photoactive systems.
He has received teaching and research awards, including the 2015 Meritorious Faculty Award from the College of Natural Science.
